Jack Byrne set for Man City return after disappointing Blackburn spell

The Irish midfielder has struggled to make an impact at Ewood Park, with Blackburn suffering at the wrong end of the Championship.

Jack Byrne's loan spell at Blackburn Rovers is set to be cut short, with the midfielder expected to make a return to Manchester City in January.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international joined Rovers on a season-long loan in July, but has endured a frustrating time at Ewood Park, making just seven appearances in all competitions.

And, Blackburn manager Owen Coyle has revealed that the 20-year-old is likely to return to the Premier League club with a view to playing more football, either in the youth team or with a new loan transfer.
