THE CONTIENT OF AFRICA.

Africa is considered by most paleoanthologist to be the oldest inhabited territory on Earth with the various living species of organism originating from her.
Afric was a Latin name used to refer to the Carthaginians, who dwelt in North Africa in Modern-day-Tunisia. This seems to have originally referred to native Libyan tribe; where “Ifrikiya” mean “sunny place”. The name is usually connected with Phoenician afar, “dust”, but at 1981 hypothesis has asserted that it was coined the Berber ifri (Plural ifran) “cave”, in reference to cave dwellers.
Africa is the world’s second largest and second-most-populous continent. At 30.2 million km (11.7 million sq mi) including adjacent islands, it covers six percent of the Earth’s total surface area and 20. 4 percent of the total area. Africa has a large quantity of natural resources including oil, diamonds, golds, iron, cobalt, Uranium, copper, bauxite, silver, petroleum, etc.
The continent is surrounded by Mediterranean Sea to the north, both the Suez Canal and the Rea Sea along the Sinai Peninsula to the northwest, the Indian Ocean to the Southeast and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
The continent includes Madagascar and various archipelagos. It has 61 fully recognized sovereign states “COUNTRIES”, nine territories and two de facto independent states with limited or no recognition.

Africa is the youngest continent in the world with over 50% of the children under 20 years younger. The world population is said to be double to two billion by 2050. Africa is sub-divided into 5 regions namely: North Africa, Central Africa, East Africa, West Africa and Southern Africa.
