Although the Netherlands winger was snubbed by the
Red Devils manager during his time at the club, he has described the
Portuguese as a good person.
The winger's £16 million switch to France was confirmed on Friday following a frustrating campaign in the Premier League this season under Mourinho.
Memphis played just 20 minutes of league football under the Portuguese this term, following an impressive debut campaign under countryman Louis van Gaal last time out in which he made 45 appearances in all competitions.
And though Mourinho did not consider Memphis as a key player in his Red Devils squad, the United boss praised the 22-year-old's attitude upon his departure and welcomed a return to the club in the future, something which the player appreciated.
"His words were nice. In Manchester, I always worked as I had to. For me personally, it wasn't all that easy," Memphis, whose transfer could earn United up to £21.7 million with add-ons, told OL TV . "I needed to play. But we didn't have a bad relationship.
"He's a great coach and a great person. Now we'll see here how I play. In any case, I think he has said good things about me."
